Issue:
When using DHCP protocol instead of a Static IP (DHCP Reservation), if the controller is assigned an IP that is already associated to another controller installed in the SC+, SC+ will fail to update the address in the routing table, as there is already another device with same IP address.
- The BACnet routing table associates a Network Number and MAC address for each device ID. For IP Devices , the MAC address is the IP address, hence the SC+ is unable to resolve if two device ID's are reporting the same MAC (IP) address.
Example:
- * 3 symbio 210e Device Installed on the SC+ with the following IPs
- SC+ was powered off
- IPs for symbio were changed as follows:
-
- Symbio 210-3 192.168.2.13 to 192.168.2.14
- Symbio 210-4 192.168.2.14 to 192.168.2.15
- Symbio 210-5 192.168.2.15 to 192.168.2.13
- SC+ powered back up and Communication Status indicates "Not Communicating"
- Communication Status then changes to "Communicating" and then keeps swapping between "Communicating" and "Start up"
- Navigating to Tools/System Logs, the Hydra.log displays failed state trying to change address:
- Device discovery shows those 3 symbio cannot be installed and the Reason is Same address as an installed device
NOTE:
This also cause UC600s to crash and restart, however that was not seen in Symbio 210e.
NOTE:
Trane only recommends Static or DHCP with reservation. This will prevent an installed controller on the Tracer SC/SC+ from being assigned an IP address that was used from another installed controller.
Workaround:
Set IP to previously assigned IP address for the controller and move to DHCP reservation.
