Solution:
Reliatel units need the reversing valve energized for cooling.
If the thermostat doesn’t supply 24 vac to the “G” terminal the Reliatel board will still turn on the indoor fan when needed.
What the terminals do:
Y1 – Stage 1 cooling mode or turns on both compressors (if a dual circuit) in heat mode.
W1/O – Energizes the reversing valve.
G – Energizes the indoor fan.
W2 – Auxiliary heat, 2nd Stage heat.
Y2 –Stage 2 cooling mode.
X2 – Emergency Heat, Electric Heat with no compressor(s).
T – Heat Anticipation, if the thermostat doesn’t have a “T” Terminal, disregard this terminal.
How the Reliatel Board will react to requests from the thermostat:
R + Y1 – Compressor Heat Mode.
R + Y1 + W2 – Compressor Heat Mode with Electric Heat.
R + Y1 + W1/O – Compressor 1 cooling mode or Economizer if conditions are favorable.
R + Y1 + Y2 + W1/O – Compressor 2 cooling mode or Compressor 1 and Economizer if conditions are favorable.
R + X2 – Electric Heat with no Compressor(s).
Below are examples of request from the thermostat that the Reliatel Board will not accept. When the Reliatel board sees these it will just run the Indoor Fan.
R + Y1 + X2 – Invalid Request, the Reliatel board cannot run the Compressor(s) in Heat Mode and also run Electric Heat with NO Compressor(s).
R + Y1 + W2 + X2 – Invalid Request, the Reliatel board cannot run the Compressor(s) in Heat Mode with Electric Heat and also run Electric Heat with NO Compressor(s).
R + Y1 + W1/O + W2 – Invalid Request, the Reliatel Board cannot run Cooling Mode and Heat Mode at the same time.
R + Y1 + Y2 + W1/O + W2 – Invalid Request, the Reliatel Board cannot run Cooling Mode and Heat Mode at the same time.
