In the Summer of 2025, the manufacturer (Regal) of the condenser fan motors for the 6-10T Legacy Precedent units discontinued the ECM module and motor used on these units (Regal 142R). It was replaced with the Regal Eon K which is the same motor/module that is used on the current Precedent units with Symbio 700 controls but programmed differently for operation with ReliaTel VSM module.
Reports from the field have indicated that the new motors may not operate when connected to the VSM harness like the old motor. I has been discovered that there may be an issue with the programming or wiring on the new ECM module that may be preventing the operation of the motor.
The current work around for this will be to reverse the blue and yellow wires between the ECM module and unit harness.
The original connection to the ECM module from the unit had the blue and yellow wires reversed intentionally:
This is correct for the unit, but it has been found that a new Regal Eon K motor will not run when connected like this. Field and Lab testing has shown that lining up the wires blue to blue and yellow to yellow will allow the fan to operate.
This can be achieved by either cutting the connector out and splicing the wires together or de-pinning the PPF76. If cutting the connector out, the spice needs be in a way that prevent accidental separation of the wires, LCU Tech Support recommends insulated quick connects.
To de-pin the connector, a casing or barrel style pin removal tool will be needed.
Insert the tool into the connector over the pin
Once tool is pushed all the way in, gently tug on the wire to pull from back of connector.
Note: If the wire does not pull out easily, push the wire into the connector while also holding the tool in the connector, then gently pull the wire out of the connector.
Re-install wires as shown
