There are many times when a user wishes to connect a single Air-fi sensor to a single devices and not communicate back to a network.
Step 1 - Set Controller Rotary Address
Step 2 - Create the Network
Step 3 - Add the Sensor to the Network
Step 4 - Reboot Controller
Step 1 Set Controller Rotary Address
On the Symbio or UC board set the Rotary address to any value between 1- 990. The address should be unique on the Air-Fi Network. Different controllers on the same network need a different rotary address.
Power Cycle the controller
Step 2 Creating a Standalone Network
Each of rotary setting on a WCI must be set to a value between 1-0. 0 and 9 are not valid for the rotary switches.
To make a WCI the coordinator, and create the wireless network, press and hold the Start Button for 5 seconds then release it. The network LED should flash follow after solid Network LED. Additionally the CRD and OPEN LED's should also light within a few seconds.
WCI Version 3
WCI Version 2
This method results in the network being open for 60 minutes to allow other WCIs or sensors with the same GRP/NET address as the Coordinator to join the network.
Step 3 - Adding a Sensor
- On the back of the sensor press and hold the Addr button for 3 seconds.
- Now using the display and the up and down buttons to change the setting and the left and right buttons to move forward and backwards on the screen, set the Air-FI sensor GRP and NWK rotaries must match the rotaries address on the WCI. This will allow it to become a member of the network. Then push the right button to go to the UC Address page.
- Use the up and down arrows to match the controller rotary address settings from step 1. Use the right or left arrows to move to the left or right of the three entries. This will allow the sensor to associate with the specific controller. When finished, use the right arrow to go to the next page.
- The sensor (Sn) setting should be 1. The controller can support of to 6 sensors but this feature requires the use of Tracer TU.
- Verify that the network is open on the WCI connected to the unit, the NWK and the Open LED should be illuminated. If it is not press the Open button, if the network is not open the Air-Fi sensor will not join.
Now double press the center button twice rapidly to force the sensor to join of the network. The display will briefly show a race track pattern around the display while it tries to connect to the network.
For these sensor (WCS-SO/SCO2) press the up arrow from the blank screen to initiate the join.
- If the zone sensor is displaying a E1 code, it has not associated with the UC controller with matching address. Press the center button twice on the zone sensor to force the association and clear the E1 code.
Step 4 - Power Cycle the controller
It is necessary to power cycle the controller once the sensor has connected to the controller. This will cause the controller to switch from the local sensor to the Air-Fi sensor without the use of Tracer TU.
