How to add a WCI to a Symbio 700
The Symbio 700 advanced controller supports BACnet Zigbee (Air-Fi) communication protocol. A Wireless Communicating Interface (WCI) must be added to the for Symbio 700 for Air-Fi to work.
Below are the best options available when connecting a WCI to a Symbio 700.
1) Odyssey Indoor Unit Relay Board
The best option (if available) is to use the J4 plug on the Indoor Unit (AHU) Relay Board (shown below). This termination uses a standard 4 pin green screw terminal connector. Using this termination will reduce the amount of wire that needs to be run for the WCI and should give the best wireless signal. This option will still require pulling IMC comm and power wires from the outdoor unit, but that may already be needed for the Indoor Options Module in the AHU.
2) Odyssey Condensing Unit Adapter Board
The next best option is to run the wires out to the Condensing Unit and terminate them at the J15 plug (shown below). This termination uses a standard 4 pin green screw terminal connector. This connection will require more wire to be run, but this may be the only option if the Indoor Unit is not a Trane Odyssey unit.
