Barometric Relief Damper
A barometric relief damper is a device used in HVAC systems to regulate the flow of air and maintain the appropriate pressure levels within a building or ductwork. It is typically installed in the ductwork to allow the release of excess air pressure or to relieve negative pressure.
The damper works by automatically opening or closing based on the changes in the pressure differential between the inside and outside of the duct. When the pressure inside the duct becomes too high, the damper opens to release the excess air, preventing damage to the HVAC system or building. On the other hand, if the pressure inside the duct becomes too low, the damper closes to prevent the entry of outdoor air or unwanted contaminants.
