Can a Voyager III constant volume be used with a Tracker or CCPIII change-over Bypass system?
Resolution:
Tracker Version 12 supports an LCI-R Lon interface to constant volume SCC Voyager or Precedent units. It does not support a Lon interface directly to Commercial VAV Voyager. CCPIII changeover bypass uses a constant volume AHU with a TCI communications interface. CCPIII delivered VAV uses a VAV Voyager with a TCI interface.
If the Voyager III is constant volume with an LCI-R and the SCC image, Tracker will treat it as any other LCI-R SCC air handler. It will work. If the Voyager is physically configured as a VAV, it will not work even if the LCI-R has the SCC image. Addition of an SCC LCI-R can not change the Voyager and make it function as a constant volume machine. Tracker will see the LCI-R but information from the Voyager will be mismatched to the communications interface and the information that Tracker gets will either be wrong or will not make sense. If the Voyager III is constant volume but has an LCI-R with the DAC image, Tracker will not recognize the DAC as a supported device and will not communicate to it.
The situation is similar with a CCPIII changeover bypass system. Any Voyager that is physically configured as constant voulme will pass that information to the CCPIII via the comm4 TCI interface. The CCPIII will then configure itself to use the changeover bypass sequence. If the Voyager is physically configured as VAV it will pass that information to the CCP and the CCP will automatically configure itself to run the Delivered VAV sequence. The CCP selects the Delivered VAV or Changeover-Bypass sequence based only on the AHU configuration it receives from the Voyager via the TCI interface.
A CCPIII will communicate to Tracker with either the Delivered VAV or Changeover-Bypass sequence. If a Voyager VAV is part of a CCPIII Delivered VAV system Tracker will provide an indirect interface to the VAV Voyager through the CCPIII.
