Issue:
Communications failure or no display software message on VariTrac CCPIII operator display
Resolution:
Either the operator display is bad or the logic board is bad
Can you direct connect to the CCP? If no,
- Check the power supply to the board.
- Remove the main module from the back plate. Are there any broken or missing pins on the back of the main module?
- Replace the main module and remove the display panel so that you can see the main board.
- Are the two screws on the bottom of the board tight?
- What is the Code LED (LED 16) doing? It should flash during power up only and then go off. If it's on solid, it does not have any internal software.
- Replace the CCP main board.
If you can direct connect to the CCP and the display is still blank, replace the display module.
It may be possible to put the unit into a boot mode to allow code download. To do this, you need to turn power off, then hold down both service pins (S1 and S2 buttons) in, power up and continue holding the service buttons for at least 30 seconds. If that is successful the Code LED will be flashing and when you connect with the VariTrac software, it will immediately download the image. We would want to download V4.200.344. Once it download this new image it will recover and operate normally
If the Code LED remains on continuously the only action you can take is to condemn the main logic board

CCP III does not communicate with operator display. Operator displays " Communications Failure " and "No Display Software " when plugged into main logic board.
Facts:
- VARITRAC III CENTRAL CONTROL PANEL (CCP)
- VariTrac III Central Control Panel (CCP)
- Tracer MP580/581
- The HRT LED was dark and tech could not reset the CCP III by holding down switches S1 and S2 simultaneously. Checked power and grounding and pins.
