Issue:
What causes a Priority 3 high temperature input shutdown on Varitrac CCP?
Resolution:
Smoke detector input in alarm. If this is a UCP Voyager with a 6 dip switch TCI, switch 1 enables/disables the high temp input on the TCI base board.. Check terminations and wiring at the input.
If this is a Voyager with Reliatel controls, check RTOM terminals J7-9 and J7-10 while the unit is powered. J7-9 to ground should be 24 VAC. J7-10 to ground should be 0 VAC to ground when no alarm present. J7-10 to ground will be 24 VAC to ground when in alarm.
Some units have factory smoke detectors in both the supply and return ducts. Wiring, terminations and sensor condition for both should be checked. If there is an external smoke alarm, it will be terminated at LTB1-5, 6, otherwise a jumper should be in place across 5 and 6. This is part of the same circuit for smoke detection.
