Issue:

Having problems getting connected the Varitrac III CCP.

Resolution:

 

Here are two mistakes that are easy to make:

1) Tracker and Varitrac CCPIII each have their own PC software.  Tracker software will not work with CCPIII.  CCPIII software will not work with Tracker.  Tracker and CCP panels look very much the same.  It is easy to mistake one for the other.  Also the Tracker and CCPIII PC software have very much the same appearance.  If there is a problem connecting make sure you have the correct software for the panel.  See WAVE58663.

 

2) Varitrac CCPIII PC software does not work with CCPII.  HyperTerminal is used to connect to CCPII instead, see WAVE656.  Tracker v 12 PC software does not work with EMTK tracker.  Connect to EMTK Tracker using HyperTerminal, see WAVE529.

For other problems uninstall and reinstall the software.  Always log on as administrator and turn off virus protection when installing the software. 

The PC Rx and Tx lights on the VariTrac III CCP main board should blink when you're connecting. If they don't, try connecting to another CCP. If your software and cable are good, the problem could be with the CCP itself.

The installation of Tracker PC software also installs VariTrac PC software along with it.

VariTrac III CCPs come with VariTrac PC software (the CD). Tracker PC software does not come with a Tracker panel (Tracker PC software must be ordered separately).
