Issue:
Can Tracker use DHCP assigned IP address?
Resolution:
Problem:
The Tracker is assigned an address on the IP LAN by DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol). What happens after a power loss?
Solution:
In order to meet specifications on some jobs the Tracker will use DHCP but it is not the best practice. Following a power loss the DHCP would assign a new IP address to the Tracker. The recommended practice is to have the customer's IT department assign an IP address to the MAC address of the Tracker (which is viewable from the OD) so that, if the Tracker asks for a new address (on a power loss for instance), it will always get the same address.
