Issue:
Does Tracker handle a pulse input?
Resolution:
The BMTK Tracker pulse meter can be used for monitoring only, meaning that there is no direct method of providing load shedding or demand limiting using the BMTK Tracker.Â
Reports are possible for the BMTK Tracker meter input for: weekly, monthly, yearly and peak.
Tracker has a pulsed input capable of monitoring a pulse meter and recording watts per hour. The pulsed input is wired to terminals 8 and 9 (meter input) on the Tracker termination board. The user enters the weight (Wh/Pulse) on the Tracker Demand Limiting edit screen. The recorded kW reading value can be displayed on energy usage reports for the current day, week, month, year etc. and saved as an .htm file in folder "C:\program files\Trane\Light Commercial V12\Tracker\Reports\." Tracker does not have a demand limiting application, though a tab in Tracker PC software is labeled "Demand Limiting."
Â
BMTK-SVN01D-EN page 26 and 28 covers these inputs requirements. The EMTK Stat 16 Tracker also has the same pulse meter requirements.
From the EMTK-OG-8 Appendix B page 115(same as BMTK)
The binary input must have an isolated and ungrounded contact. The minimum contact dwell time for the pulsed input must not be less than 1/5 of a second (200 milliseconds). The pulse should not be faster than 5 pulses/second. If the Tracker receives no pulse for a 2-minute period, the calculated kW demand value is set to zero. When setting up the meter, the optimum pulse rate is one pulse per 2 seconds at pkW.
