There is a separate password for the HyperTerminal (RS-232) connection. If it's set to 0, security is disabled. See pages 91 and 92 of the operating guide.

The default password for the EMTK display panel is +, -, T, D (T=Set time, D=Set date). This can be changed using HyperTerminal if security is enabled.
