Resolution:

 

For the Comm4 link on the VariTrac III, you may use
     -  Level 4 shielded wire
           length limit is reduced to 3500 feet
     -  "Purple" 18 gauge, twisted pair, 23 picofarads/foot, shielded wire
          length limit is 5000 feet
You may not use Level 4 unshielded wire on the Comm4 link.

For the LonTalk link, you may use:
     -  Level 4 unshielded
           preferred
           daisy chain
          105 ohm terminator at each end of wire
     -  Level 4 shielded
          acceptable, convenient if using same wire for Comm4 link on the VariTrac III
          daisy chain
          105 ohm terminator at each end of wire
     -  "Purple" 18 gauge, twisted pair, 23 picofarads/foot, shielded wire
          acceptable, but discouraged
          daisy chain
          82 ohm terminator at each end of wire

Do not mix wire types on a communications link.
