Issue:
Why is the red service LED flashing on a LonTalk device?
LonTalk device in unconfigured state
Resolution:
When the red service LED is flashing, the device is in the network unconfigured state and the LonTalk device has lost its DSN addressing.
If on BCU link, go to Site Configuration - Assign Neuron ID. Discover Neuron IDs, unassign and re-assign the device. Save and close.
Or
Remove the controller off of the link and connect to the device with Rover/ Then discover the device through Group | Tool Mode | Active
and rediscover the link in Active Mode,
Rover will ask the following questions
Question 1
Rover will ask if this is a network installation? Select No
Note: This question will come up anytime Rover finds an invalid DSN, an unconfigured device or broken bindings on the link.
Question 2 Devices have been missing or been added. Do you want to re-format the network configuration of the devices on the link? Select Yes
Question 3
All Device bindings will be destroyed! Are you sure? Select Yes
this will change the network state to configured and will turn off the red service LED.
If this does not work, try holding the service pin down for 20 seconds then connect with Rover in the active mode. If Rover does not find the device, push the service pin for 1 second. If Rover does not see the service pin message or does not discover the device, replace the board.
Manually assigning a DSN without formatting the link, will not make your controller go to the configured state. Rover must format the controller in active mode for it to go to a configured state.
Use the following HUB if you need to manually reassign the DSN with Rover after the device is back in the configured state, Using Rover, can you write a specific DSN
