Resolution:

There are two methods of obtaining XIF files:

The LonMark website has XIF files from the current version of all LonMark certified products. www.lonmark.org

1. Go to LonMark Product Catalog
2. Find the product for which you need the XIF file. The easiest method is to select the manufacturer and press the Search button.  For example, you can select "Trane" as the manufacturer.
3. You will now see a list of all current versions of that manufacturer's LonMark certified products. Select a product.
4. In the "Downloadable Files" area, select the file name to download. The file, whose title is the program ID, contains the XIF file. 

You can create an XIF file directly from the device using software called NodeUtil.

1. Connect your Comm 5 adapter to the link or individual controller. 
2. Make sure Rover is shut down and then start Node Utility.
3. Hit the Service pin on the controller that you want to create a XIF for. A node ID will be shown on the screen.
4. Select G to go to the node menu.  You will be prompted for a node ID. The Node ID will show up in brackets. Press the Enter key.
5. Another menu will appear. Select X to create the external interface file. Give the name of the controller for the output file name, and add .XIF as the extension. Name is limited to 8 characters. 
6. NodeUtil will place the XIF file in the same directory as the NodeUtil program.

XIF files are also located under the Tracer Summit & Rover software files

• Tracer Summit XIF folder > C:\Program Files (x86)\Tracer Summit\XIF
• Rover images folder > C:\Program Files (x86)\Rover\Images
