BAYMODU001 Installation
For more detailed information, a link to the literature for the kit can be located in the article, Odyssey A2L R-454B Accessory Kit Installation Instructions
Parts List
Options module installation location
- Install the new module next to the Relay Board (RB)
- Install the IMC Communication Wire from IOM P4 to RB P2
- Install the Electric Heat Control Harness from IOM P6 & P7 to RB J1
- If an electric heat accessory has been installed, it can be plugged into RB J2 or RB J3
Set the Options Module address to 75
- The Indoor Options module must be addressed to address 75 on the provided rotary dials.
- SW1 is addressed to 7
- SW2 is addressed to 5

Figure 2: Options Module Board and Address Dials
- Sometimes, you may need to turn the dial 360° to set the address, cycle power, or go to Tools > Service > scroll down to IMC LINK RESET (Phone App).
Verify the Symbio 700 board is correctly configured
- In the Symbio App, check the Tools > Service menu and scroll down to Indoor Options Module Communication Status
- If the status is Communicating - Not Configured, the Symbio 700 board has communication, but it is not configured with an option that uses the IOM board.
- Add electric heat, discharge temperature sensor and/or frostat to configure an option that uses the board.
- Here is an article on changing the configuration: Symbio™ 700 - How to configure or edit configurations using the Mobile Phone App
- If the status is Not Communicating, the Symbio 700 has a valid configuration for the IOM, but it is not communicating.
- Further troubleshooting on the communication and wiring needs to be performed.
- If the status is Not Configured, the Symbio 700 board is not configured for the IOM and it is also not communicating.
- IMC wiring and Symbio 700 configuration will need to be checked and verified
- If the status is Communicating - Not Configured, the Symbio 700 board has communication, but it is not configured with an option that uses the IOM board.
Communication Troubleshooting
Verify the IOM has power
- Verify that LED 8 is solid green in the middle of the module.
Figure 3: LED 8
Verify the Field-Installed module is addressed
- See Installation Section for Proper Board addressing. Address on the Board should be set to 75.
Verify the Symbio 700 board is properly configured
- See Installation Section for Symbio configuration verification
Check IMC Wiring and Integrity
- The IMC wiring between the indoor unit and outdoor unit should be Trane Purple wire or equivalent.
- All plugs and harnesses should be inspected and verified that the wires are fully inserted in the harness and pins are not damaged.
- See the IMC Board Connections section below for connection points and the unit wiring diagrams
- Continuity test on the IMC wiring
- Unwire the IMC from the condenser and air handler
- Connect the wires on the air handler side of the comm together
- Test for continuity at the condenser end of the wiring
- Wires should have less than 5 ohms of resistance
- Check/replace wiring if it is reading open resistance or resistance is too high
- Check for resistance to the comm shield
- Any resistance could indicate a damaged or shorted wire to ground and wire may need to be replaced or repaired
Check IMC voltage and communication status LEDs:
Figure 4: Communication LEDs
Options Board comm voltage is 4.5 to 3.25 VDC, pulsing 30 times a minute.
Normally, the LED5 RX will be brighter than LED6 TX and will pulse at an irregular pattern. LED6 will pulse as well, but it is much less noticeable.
Measurements at the Options Board or downstream of the problem:
IMC - open – Options Board LED 5 off, LED 6 off.
(IMC + to IMC -) 4.2 VDC to 3.6 VDC.
(IMC + to Ground) 4.7 VDC to 4.3 VDC.
(IMC – to Ground) .49 VDC to .47 VDC.
IMC + open – Options Board LED 5 dim flicker, LED 6 dim flicker.
(IMC + to IMC -) .7 VDC to .3 VDC.
(IMC + to Ground) .97 VDC to 87 VDC.
(IMC – to Ground) .91 VDC to .1 VDC.
Wires Crossed – Options Board LED 5 on steady, LED 6 off.
(IMC + to IMC -) -4.7 VDC to -.3 VDC.
(IMC + to Ground) .75 VDC to .1 VDC.
(IMC – to Ground) 4.7 VDC to 4.2 VDC.
Other LED info – IMC wires shorted together or both open, LED 5 and 6 off.

Other Troubleshooting Tips:
- In some cases, to rule out wiring issues and determine if the board is defective, the Indoor Options Module and harness can be removed from the Relay Board on the air handler and plugged in directly on the Symbio 700 board on P2, P3, or P4. If the IOM is still not communicating, the harness or board may be defective.
