Summary: There are several reasons why a unit will not start, the purpose of this article is to step you through common troubleshooting steps and get your unit running.
Resolution:
| 1. | Make sure your line voltage is within 10% of unit rating. | |
| 2. | Check to see if the unit is equipped with a water strainer and check the condition and clean as needed. | |
| 3. | Verify secondary voltage at the unit control transformer(s). Voltage should be 25-27vac. If out of range, check the tapping on the primary side of the transformer. | |
| 4. | See what control is installed on your unit and continue to with the appropriate steps below. | |

| 8. | Does the unit have a call from the thermostat/space controller/zone sensor? | |
Verify 24v to ground on G, Y1, Y2 (where applicable). and O (powered for cooling). See unit diagram for more information. Diagrams are located in the unit installation / operation / maintenance manual. Recommended conventional thermostats for WSHP with 24v Deluxe controls
| Verify the unit has a wired sensor or a value is being communicated via the BAS. The links below can be used for wiring various Trane zone sensors. If sensor value is being communicated to a UC400, someone with Tracer TU will need to access the control to verify the value is reported correctly.
