Symbio 700 Bluetooth Connection Instructions
Summary:
The Trane Symbio 700 equipment controller pairs with the Symbio mobile application using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). When paired with the Symbio 700 controller, technicians can use the Symbio mobile application to edit operating setpoints, adjust other parameters and settings, and perform a range of service and troubleshooting tasks while standing at the unit.

Connecting to the Symbio 700 Controller
1. Enable Bluetooth on your smart device.
2. Access the Symbio 700 unit controller in the low-voltage section of the equipment.
3. Press on the Symbio 700 keyboard/display to turn on Bluetooth.
4. Confirm the status of Bluetooth communications.

5. Start the mobile app on your smart device.
6. On the login screen, press [View Available Devices] in the lower portion of the screen. Or Trane personnel can log in using their Trane Connect username and password.
7. On the Unit List page, select the Symbio 700 controller to pair with. If the controller is not listed, press the refresh arrow in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
* Note: If a Symbio 700 is not the original Symbio controller as shipped with the equipment, the Bluetooth
equipment list will list the controller serial number, instead of the equipment serial number.
8. When prompted, pair the app to the Symbio 700 controller. A popup message displays a 6-digit
random number. The same number is shown on the display of the Symbio 700 controller until the
pairing is complete, allowing the user to confirm the connection to the intended controller.

9. Press [Check Mark - √] on the Symbio 700 onboard keyboard/display to complete the pairing.
When the LED light is a solid blue and the display reads Bluetooth Connected, the Bluetooth pairing and
connection is complete.

Bluetooth Operation
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication technology that allows electronic devices to communicate without the need for wires or cables. The Symbio 700 controller uses Bluetooth to communicate with the Symbio Service and Installation Mobile App for initial startup and servicing. Below is an overview of the expected Bluetooth operation on the Symbio 700.

| Pressing the Bluetooth button on the Symbio 700 controller when the blue LED is off. | Starts the Bluetooth radio for pairing for 5 minutes. The blue LED will start flashing on the controller signaling the radio is ready for connection. If a device is not paired within the 5-minute window the Bluetooth radio is turned off, and the button must be pressed again to restart the process. If a device is successfully connected within the 5-minute window the blue LED will turn solid. |

If you have a direct line of sight to the controller the Bluetooth range is approximately 25 feet. Without a direct line of sight to the controller, the range will vary depending on the type of obstructions. If you are outside of the Bluetooth range, the connection will be lost, and reconnecting will be required. The blue LED will be flashing when the connection is lost to the mobile app. |
