Summary
The following are the steps that are needed to replace a defective binary input LLID used to monitor refrigerant leaks for A2L compliant refrigerants.
Resolution
- Connect to controller with TU v11.9 or higher > Controls Software & Firmware Downloads | Trane Commercial HVAC
-
Verify that the controller has the A2L points, if the unit is not A2L compliant refrigerant but configured for A2L, the unit will disable all cooling and heating and run the fan on high.
To verify that the unit is configured for A2L compliant refrigerant navigate to the Equipment Utility/Configuration and verify that the A2L Refrigerant Sensor is installed. -
Power down the controller, unplug the USB cable to the controller. and replace the LLID. Power up the controller.
- Reconnect the USB cable and start Tracer TU.
- Navigate to the Status Utility/Controller Status.
-
Because the device is brand new, it will have a default address of 0. In the screen shot below we can see that the Symbio discovered the LLID-BI at address 0 and that it is expecting the LLID-BI to be at address 98. Unlike XM modules the LLID-BI does not have rotary addresses. With chillers. where this LLID is used, the LLID would be bound using the binding process in TU and a south pole magnet. However because the Symbio will only have one of these LLIDs, TU can Softset the device without using the South Pole magnet.
Select the Softset button to the right.
Note this will only appear if the device has not been previously Softset.
-
Tracer TU will display a popup message that the LLID address was successfully set. Select OK.
-
Even through the address of the Module was successfully set, Tracer TU will not auto refresh the IMC Communication State frame but come will show up for the LLID-BI. Select Discover to rediscover and refresh this frame.
-
Select OK at the popup.
-
The LLID-BI should now show Comm Up and have a softset device ID of 98 and the old device at address 0 should be gone.
- Tracer TU uses the LLID-BI for binary input 7 - Refrigerant Monitor System Input. The second input is not available for use within Tracer TU.
