Overview:
The terminology used in the Symbio 700 menu is confusing when it comes to Demand Limit, EDC and Frostat. The differences are explained below.
EDC - In the Symbio Phone App menu under Settings, View Configuration.
When the unit is operating in a “Cool” mode with a valid Outdoor Air Temperature, the EDC function will keep track of the amount of time that at least one compressor in a unit is commanded ON and the Outdoor Air Temperature is less than the low ambient temperature defined below. If the Accumulated Compressor On Time reaches 10 minutes, the EDC function will cause the Compressor Output(s) to de-energize for three minutes. The supply fan continues to operate during this three-minute interval at 100% capacity. After the three-minute EDC timer has expired, the EDC function is ended and compressors are allowed to operate as requested by the algorithm.
Low Ambient Temperature Setpoints:
Single Compressor Systems – 55F
Multi-Compressor Systems – 40F
Demand Management - In the Symbio Phone App menu under Settings, View Configuration.
To utilize the actual EDC switch in the Air Handler; in the Symbio 700 Phone App menu go to Demand Management and choose "Demand Limit" then go Settings, Refrigeration, Cooling Demand Limit Capacity Enable Setpoint and set that to 0%.
Frostat - In the Symbio Phone App menu under Settings, View Configuration.
Frostat in the Phone App menu is the only on Air Handlers with a model number that has digit 15 as "D". It is the "HTL" on the Air Handler wiring diagram, and is a snap disk in the VFD enclosure.
It will turn the compressor(s) off if the VFD enclosure temperature gets too high.
