Background:
These are instructions for wiring the Odyssey air handler setup for electromechanical operation with a Symbio condenser.
For pairing applications where control is provided by the thermostat, wiring between the air handler and
condenser is reduced to a single cable for both condenser cooling and heat pump applications. In these
applications, the thermostat provides control of the split system. The Symbio™ 700 accepts the Y1, Y2
(optional), O (heat pump only), and Limit/Shed (compressor disable) inputs from the thermostat/AHU.
Some features will be lost or limited when wiring the unit with Pairing H.
Features lost or limited:
- Test mode on the condenser will not bring on the indoor fan.
- Equipment Shutdown Input will only shut down the condenser and will not turn off the supply fan since it is controlled with the thermostat.
- Without the use of the Indoor Options Module, the electric heat operation cannot turn on with defrost mode from the Symbio 700 (Heat Pump only). Electric heat can still be energized with the Relay Board J5 terminals W1 and W2.
- Zone sensors will not be used
Equipment:
Condenser: Odyssey R-454B Condenser with Symbio 700 controls
Air Handler: Odyssey R-454B air handler with 15th digit = C or modified Odyssey R454B air handler with model number 15th digit = D
Air Handling Unit Modifications if the Symbio Air Handling Unit was selected as Single Zone VAV (Digit 15=D):
Note: If the Symbio air handling unit was selected for 2-speed operation (Digit 15=C), the necessary VFD wiring
and VFD programming steps were completed in the factory.

How many wires do I need?
1- Up to 8 wires in between the air handler and condenser
1 - Up to 8 wires in between the air handler and thermostat
1- Optional Communication Wire for IMC Communication

The Indoor Options Module can be added to enable the Symbio 700 to turn on electric heat in defrost mode for a heat pump.
The Symbio Configuration will need to be updated when the Indoor Options Module is added. Change the Secondary Heat to Electric and add the applicable stages.
