Issue:
DX Evaporator Refrigerant Head Installation
Resolution:
1. Ensure gasket surfaces on head and tube sheet are dry and clean of all foreign matter. The head cavity and inside of tube sheet should also be dry and free of foreign matter. Visually inspect sealing surfaces for damage or irregularities.
2. Attach gaskets and heads to evaporator. For 240-400 ton evaporators use a small amount of super glue to secure gasket to the horizontal head ribs. Do not apply super glue to the outside perimeter or vertical section of the gasket.
3. Assure the head and gasket are coordinated and properly oriented.
4. Tighten and Torque the bolts using the proper sequence and to the proper torque value.
Torque the outside bolts first using a basic star pattern, and then torque the center bolts starting at the top and alternating top to bottom.
