Resolution:
Trane does not recommend changing oil in Series R Chillers unless an oil analysis indicates a need to do so (such as in the case of a severe motor burnout). See RTAA-SB-6A for further information on RTAA/WA/UA chillers and RTHA-SB-16 on RTHA/B chillers.
It is recommended that an annual oil analysis be performed by a qualified laboratory. The first reading can serve as a baseline, and subsequent tests should be used to trend moisture, acid, and wear metal levels.
