How many bearings are used on the screw compressors?
Number of Bearing used in Pueblo-built screw compressors:
RTHA and RTHB
- All had 9 bearings which included a reverse thrust bearing on the male and female rotors.
RTHC and RTHD
- All have 7 bearings. The reverse thrust bearings from the RTHA/B design were removed.
Intermediate and GP (RTAA, RTWA, RTUA)
Original design
Had 9 bearings which included the reverse thrust bearings. They were later deleted and now have 7 bearings total.
GP2 (RTAC)
All have 7 bearings. The design did not include the reverse thrust bearings.
The breakdown is as follows:
Male
- Suction: 1 bearing
- Discharge: 3 bearings
Female
- Suction: 1 bearing
- Discharge: 2 bearings
Four of the bearings are classified as Cylindrical or "Roller" type while the other three are Angular Contact or "Thrust" type.
GP4 (RTAE)
All have 8 bearings. The design did not include the reverse thrust bearings.
The breakdown is as follows:
Male
- Suction: 1 bearing
- Discharge: 3 bearings
Female
- Suction - 1 bearing
- Discharge - 3 bearings
