Background
- Backing up the Symbio 700 protects your configurations and settings, ensuring you have a copy in case of system failure. Backing up the unit control module lets you quickly and easily restore your configurations and settings to their previous state.

Install USB mass storage device
- Verify the USB mass storage device is formatted to the correct format. Use the article below for reference.
- Remove power from the Symbio 700
- Install the USB mass storage device into the USB Host connector (J2) in the top left corner of the Symbio 700 unit controller (See image below)
- Restore power to the board
Backup with Phone App
1. Connect with the Symbio 700 mobile phone app. If you do not have the mobile phone app, click the link below to download the Trane Symbio Service & Installation app
2. Click the Tools icon in the bottom right corner of the mobile phone
4. Scroll down and click backup and on the next page click the Backup Now blue button
5. System backup in progress, and when complete, it will take you back to the same backup page
Restore Backup with the App
6. You can Restore the backup to the Symbio 700 board by going to Tools > Restore > Restore Controller Backup > select a backup file > choose the file to restore > select Proceed > Restore Backup
Backup using Tracer TU
1. Click on the Utilities tab and go to Backup Utility.
2. On the Backup pop-up window, make sure the device is selected and click Next.
3. This is the file path where the backup file will be saved, if you want a different path select browse. Click Next
4. Press the Start button to save the file.
5. The pop-up window shows the progress of the file being backed up
6. Press the Finish button as the board has successfully been backed up
Restore backup using Tracer TU
1. Click on Utilities tab and then File Transfer Utility
2. Verify the device is selected and click Next
3. Use Browse to locate the backup file and click Next
4. Click on Start to restore the backup to the Symbio 700 board
5. Click on Finish to complete the restoration and go back to the Unit Summary
