Issue:
What are the specs for starting a compressor after it has stopped?
Resolution:
RTAA chillers have two timers to control rapid cycling. The restart inhibit timer is adjustable from 30 seconds to two minutes. It it invoked anytime the chiller has seen any sort of power loss other than a momentary power loss. It begins timing from the power up of the chiller.
The start to start timer is 5 minutes. It begins decrementing once a compressor is started. If the compressor runs for less than 5 minutes and shuts off because the chiller has met the cooling load, then the next start will not be allowed until the 5 minute timer has fully expired. If the compressor has run 5 minutes or more and the start to start timer has expired, it will be 10 seconds before it is allowed to start again.
