Issue:
CHHC Motor Terminal Protector
Resolution:
On occasion, it is necessary to disassemble a chiller. During this process, the compressor terminals are prone to damage, and it is recommended that they be protected while being moved.
The Trane part number for this block is BLK01009. If you desire to make your own, the attached drawing shows the dimensions of a protector that could be mounted before the starter panel is removed to ensure a higher level of protection.
The material used could be UMHW polyethylene, wood, metal, or any other material that would provide a buffer to the porcelain "spark plugs".
In addition to the block, secure 2 pieces of M10 all-thread (6" long) as well as washers and nuts to secure the block.
In the event that a terminal is damaged, seeRTHC Terminal Replacement/Compressor Separation for more information.
