Issue:
Can I get HGBP on a screw chiller?
Resolution:
- Hot gas bypass (HGBP) is not an available option from the factory, and Trane does not endorse its use on their screw compressors.
The competition provides hot-gas bypass in order to decrease compressor cycling. Hot-gas bypass falsely loads compressors, increasing kW intake and wasting energy. Trane's method is a 5-minute start-to-start and a 2-minute stop-to-start that allows our machines to match low load conditions.
