Issue:
How can I slow down how fast the chiller loads up?
Resolution:
There are two settings in the Set Up menu for comfort cooling that will help slow down how fast the chiller loads up.
1. The delta T of the chiller.
- A deadband is created based off the design-delta T/# of stages(compressors). The control algorithms look at this deadband and place half the deadband above the active chilled water setpoint and half below the chilled water setpoint. When the leaving solution temperature is at the threshold of the upper deadband an additional compressor will stage on. Therefore, the larger the delta T, the larger the deadband, and the more delay in bringing on an additional compressor.
2. The Control Response Setpoint.
- This setting can be accessed by going into Set Up under the Control Algorithm Tuning Parameters sub menu (the password for this menu is + + - +). The default for this setting is 25 and has a range of 1 to 128. The higher this number = a faster response; the lower this number the slower the response.
- NOTE: Changing this setting effect both loading and unloading.
