Issue:
How do I drive the expansion valve open with the unit off?
Resolution:
RTAC:
- When the RTAC chiller undergoes a shutdown process, the electronic expansion valve (EXV) is instructed to close.
- To evacuate the line between the EXV and the liquid line angle valve, or to perform a circuit flush following a motor burnout, it is necessary to activate the expansion valve to the open position.
- This can be accomplished by accessing Techview and navigating to Compressor Service View.
- Within this interface, there are two options available for the EXV: open or auto.
- To fully open the EXV, the auto setting should be selected.
Notes:
When driving the expansion valve, make sure it is installed into a valve body. If the valve is driven outside of the body, it could cause irreparable damage.
