Issue:
Compressors are not at 100% RLA but the maximum capacity output is energized
Resolution:
- Maximum capacity output is energized when the available compressors are at full load.
- Because conditions may be optimum, the compressors may run less than 100% RLA but still be fully loaded up.
- If there is a question whether the chiller is at full load, a tons calculation (tons = (GPM x delta T)/24) should be done to verify the chiller is doing its full load capacity.
- For chilled water loops where glycol is added, a de-rate of capacity should be expected. The sales submittal should be looked at for those conditions.
- Otherwise, for water only loops, refer to the tonnage on the nameplate of the chiller.
Facts:
- Air-Cooled Chiller (Pueblo) (RTAC)
