Issue:
Hot Gas Bypass
Resolution:
The Hot Gas Bypass (HGBP) option provides a cooling mode with less capacity than that provided by a single stage of compressor cooling. A discharge bypass valve is controlled by a software algorithm that is a timed function (minimum of 10 minutes and maximum of 120 minutes) dictated by the person performing unit setup through the Human Interface.
Note: On dual circuit units, hot gas bypass will only be installed on circuit 1.
- With HGBP installed, the unit will always stage up the compressors on circuit 1 first, if operable and stage them down last.
- Hot Gas Bypass is never initiated when staging up compressors (adding capacity), only when staging down.
- If for any reason the last compressor running is not on circuit 1 (circuit 1 is inhibited, or locked out) at the time a subtract command is received, the unit will stage down the last running compressor and bypass the HGBP function.
