BACnet Setup Tool-Rebuilding BCI Points.
Summary:
The (BST) BACnet Setup Tool allows users to rebuild BCI points, which help in updating the points associated with the (BCI) BACnet Controller Interface. This process involves removing any old or outdated points, reconfiguring and reassigning new points to ensure accurate data monitoring and control
BCI (BCI-I BCI-R, BCI-C) controller needs to be cleared and points recreated. Not applicable to UC controllers
Hardware/configuration changes on equipment (IntelliPak, Reliatel or Chiller) require updated points and properties on BCI-I, BCI-R or BCI-C controller.
BCI not shipped correctly from factory
The BCI is simply a communications interface. Its points are built dynamically upon initial equipment power up based on configuration found on the actual equipment control boards (ReliaTel, Ipak, Dynaview, etc).
If the there were any hardware changes or points are missing, the BCI controller will need to be cleared, and points rebuilt
Example: Reliatel RTAM fan configuration changes from Constant Volume to VAV (changing dipswitches 1&2 to "ON")
Procedure:
- FREE for anyone - Download and install latest version of BACnet Setup Tool (BST) from link below
- Trane Controls Software Downloads
- Power down equipment and BCI controller
-
Physically connect USB A to B cable (aka USB printer cable) to BCI-
- Notice USB cable will properly power the BCI controller (status lights on controller), which is enough to complete this process
-
Clear Controller
- Launch BACnet Setup Tool (BST)
-
"Connect" to controller
- Record device "Name" and "Protocol" Settings for step 4 below
- Click "Hidden" button on Controller Settings tab, and "Clear Controller" button will appear
-
-
Setup the BACnet parameters per your Integrator's / Automation System's need
- Give device a unique/descriptive name (or restore previous)
- Restore BACnet "Protocol" Settings (or set up per your integration needs)
-
Select the BACnet Controller Units, SI or IP, per your integration needs
- Tracer Systems will convert any units you choose on the fly, so the choice is somewhat irrelevant
- "Send to Device"
- Once you have sent to device, shut down BST and unplug the USB cable
- Power up RTU (and BCI controller) and wait 5 minutes while the BCI builds the appropriate points
- After 2 minutes, plug in USB cable and connect to BCI using BST (do not shortcut this step)
-
Setup the BACnet parameters per your Integrator's / Automation System's need
