Issue:
Is the CGAM expansion tank ASME certified?
Resolution:
The CGAM chiller will ship standard with an expansion tank when the factory installed pump package option is selected. The buffer tank is optional.
Both the expansion tank and the buffer tank fall outside the scope of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII. ASME only requires certification on vessels containing water if the design pressure exceeds 300 psi (2MPa). If the design pressure is less than 300 psi, it is outside the scope of the code.
The CGAM pump package, expansion tank and buffer tank will have a maximum working pressure of 150 psig.
