Issue:
Does a chiller wired in with no branch circuit protection meet proper codes and installation requirements?
Resolution:
This is not allowed per NEC 440-III and most local codes have adopted this as part of their local code requirements.
Additionally, by applying a UL sticker to the Trane chiller, it is understood and approved by UL that its requirements are met for internal chiller wiring protection as long as the branch circuit is protected.
