What are the software requirements for Techview and KestrelView?
Resolution:
Specific hardware and software requirements are established for service technician laptops using KestrelView with Tracer CH530.
TechView/KestrelView has been updated to utilize Java JDK Version 17.
TechView V15 requires a compatible Java JDK version 17 (e.g. Amazon Corretto, Adoptium, Oracle). The installation will warn you when it does not find a compatible Java JDK and will provide you with a link to connect to the Amazon Corretto website (if you have an internet connection). The installation also provides instructions on which Java JDK version and build to select for download and installation. The Java JDK must be installed in order to complete the TechView/KestrelView installation.
TechView/KestrelView is now a 64-bit application. It is complete and separate from all previous versions.
- TechView V15 will install to C:\Program Files\Trane\TechView.
- The TechView V15 installation process will automatically migrate user-created files from previous versions: Datalogs, Images, Jobs, Templates, Reports, ServiceLit.
- You do NOT need to uninstall V14.0 SPx before installing V15.
- You do NOT need to install V14.0 before installing V15, either.

Laptop requirements for KestrelView
- 8 GB RAM
- 1024 x 768 screen resolution
- Ethernet 10/100 LAN card
- An available USB2.0 port
- Windows 10 Version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) operating system (64–bit)
- Windows 11 is fully supported.
- Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019 (14.2) (auto-installed as required for TGP2/Trane Legacy USB driver)
KestrelView is designed and validated for this specific laptop configuration. Any variation from this configuration may have different results. Therefore, support for KestrelView is limited to only those laptops configured as described above. Trane will not support KestrelView on a laptop configured differently. There is no support for laptops running Intel Celeron, AMD, Cyrix, or processors other than Pentium. Only laptops with a Pentium II class processor or better are supported.
