Chiller Troubleshooting Process
1. Preliminary Checks
- Objective: Ensure all wiring is secure and properly connected.
- Actions:
- Inspect all wiring on the communication link.
- Verify that all connections are tight and properly landed.
2. Power Down the Chiller
- Objective: Safely prepare the chiller for module inspection.
- Actions:
- Power down the chiller completely.
3. Disconnect J1 Connectors
- Objective: Isolate the issue by testing individual modules.
- Actions:
- Disconnect all J1 connectors from each module, except for the CGM (Chiller Gateway Module) and HI (Human Interface).
- Ensure that only the CGM and HI remain connected at the J1 connector.
4. Re-power the Chiller
- Objective: Determine if the initial diagnostic issue persists.
- Actions:
- Re-power the chiller.
- Observe if the diagnostic issue goes away.
- If the diagnostic issue persists: Proceed to Step 6.
- If the diagnostic issue resolves: Proceed to Step 5.
5. Reconnect Remaining Modules
- Objective: Identify the faulty module.
- Actions:
- Begin re-plugging the J1 connector of the remaining modules one at a time.
- Allow approximately 30 seconds between each reconnection.
- Monitor for the reappearance of the diagnostic issue.
- If the issue reappears: The last module reconnected is likely faulty.
- If the issue does not reappear: Continue reconnecting until all modules are tested.
6. Replace the CGM
- Objective: Resolve the issue if it persists with only the CGM and HI connected.
- Actions:
- If the initial problem does not go away with only the HI and CGM connected, replace the CGM.
