Issue:
- When adding a BCI2-C to an older unit with CH530 Controls and the unit configuration has been changed to a BACnet interface, an error message indicating "Hardware is the Wrong Type" shows while attempting to bind the new module.
- This occurs because the hardware type changes based on the unit design sequence. Reference the following link which details which units were originally equipped with the UC400 module configured as BCI-C:
-
https://support.trane.com/hc/en-us/articles/18120001291661-BCI-C-for-Pueblo-Chillers
- RTAC Design Sequence 1H and prior
- CGAM Design Sequence T0 and prior
- RTWD / UD Design Sequence K0 and prior
- RTHD Design Sequence K0 and prior
-
https://support.trane.com/hc/en-us/articles/18120001291661-BCI-C-for-Pueblo-Chillers
- BCI2-C is the only module compatible to be used on all units with CH530 controls as a BACnet interface regardless of design sequence. It must be configured correctly as shown below.
Resolution:
- Connect to the BCI2-C and then open Web UI (IP address 198.80.18.1)
- Click on "Installation" and then go to BCI2-C Configuration menu
- Then click on "Edit"
- Change the "Legacy Hardware Type" to UC400
- Click "Save" at the bottom of the page
- Once this has been changed to UC400 go back to Binding View in Techview and bind the BCI-C
Notes:
- BCI2-C default setting for "Legacy Hardware Type" is set to BCI-R which works fine without the need of any changes on units with the following design sequences:
- RTAC Design Sequence 1J and 1K
- CGAM Design Sequence U0, V0 and W0
- RTWD / UD Design Sequence L0
- RTHD Design Sequence L0 and later use UC controls
