General Info:
Orientation of the unit mounted elastomeric isolators
You will find more unit specific isolator info in the corresponding IOM. Please refer to these as well.
There are different types of isolators such as R which just means single deflection, RD is double deflection, and RDP is double deflection with a positioning pin. The different colors for each different type correspond to the different maximum loads they can support.
Isolator Mounting Hole Location
Dimensional data for the mounting hole locations can be found in the submittal drawings generated from TSA. The format in which the data is provided varies by product offering and more than one drawing may need to be referenced.
Data provided includes mounting hole diameter, mounting hole center line location from edge of base frame and quantity of mounting holes
See Isolator Mounting Holes Location pptx on location of dimensional data per product (attached below)
Drawing visuals in the pptx are for reference only
Refer to your actual submittal for dimensions; dimensions are based on nominal size.
Thin Isolators
Isolation thinner than the elastomeric isolators we offer as an option from the factory can be installed on an air-cooled chiller. Chillers may be installed with no mounting isolation at all. For isolation other than what we offer from the factory, it would have to be field selected and supplied.
Spring Isolators on Screw Compressors
In general we do not recommend the use of spring isolators on screw compressor machines. Because of higher frequency vibration in Screw chillers (300-900 Hz), spring isolators have proven of little value and are not recommended. Click here for a bulletin that further explains the difference between spring and neoprene isolators.
If it is not a sound sensitive installation, and spring isolators are strongly pushed, Vibration, Mountings, and Controls, https://www.thevmcgroup.com/ is an option for a third party vendor. Many times spring isolators can be purchased with material like that of neoprene incorporating within the isolator to help eliminate the high frequency vibration prior to reaching the spring portion.

For details on spring isolators for seismic spring isolators on CGAM see this hub case Cut sheet for the CGAM seismically rated spring isolators
Water Cooled Products:
RTHD and RTWD both ship with elastomeric isolator pads as standard. The standard isolator pad Trane supplies are 18" x 18" sheets. Thickness is 3/8" with a deflection of 1/16" at the maximum recommended loading pressure of 50 psi. For part number details check out this hub case Isolation Pad
RTWD does have an option for neoprene isolators. Details can be found in your submittal and the IOM. If this option is selected, the standard isolation pads will not ship with the chiller.
The isolators are supplied by Vibration, Mounting & Controls, Inc. (VMC)
