Issue:
Electronic Expansion Valve Caution
Resolution:
CAUTION
DO NOT apply power before attaching the valve head to the valve body! Applying power to the valve head when not installed in the valve body will cause the valve plunger assembly to be driven out of the valve head.
DO NOT attach the EXV motor/assembly/head/LLID to the CH530 LLID bus prior to installation in the valve body. Attachment of the EXV LLID to the bus will apply power to the EXV even if the EXV LLID is not bound.
CAUTION
The plunger assembly will be damaged upon VALVE HEAD installation If the plunger assembly IS not sufficiently retracted within the valve head before installation of the valve head TO the valve body.
If the plunger assembly is free of the valve head or extends too far, it may be retracted with the following procedure.
Place a magnet over the selection spot during the procedure. Apply power to the valve and hold the plunger assembly against the turning lead screw in the valve head. After the lead screw turns out for approximately eighteen seconds, it will reverse and turn the plunger assembly back in. The magnet may be removed any time after the screw starts turning back in. The power may be removed any time after motion stops, but do not reapply power before attaching the valve head to the body or the plunger assembly will come out again.
The EXV motor/assembly can be replaced without replacing the entire body of the valve.
DO NOT attach the EXV motor/assembly/head/LLID to the CH530 LLID bus prior to installation in the valve body. Attachment of the EXV LLID to the bus will apply power to the EXV even if the EXV LLID is not bound.
Notes:
Valve replacement may be the only solution for a damaged valve.
